This Weekend: Other Delights

otherdelights.jpgFRIDAY:
>>> The whole world has gone Lykke Li, it would seem, but Philadelphia, we have bad news for you: That shit is sold out hard and even Craig can’t help you now. And you know it’s gonna be slim shit when Weekend Picks kicks off with the bad news.
>>> But Madonna Michael Prince has like 50 girls all celebrating this one other girl’s birthday already committed, so any party that starts out that way can only go in one direction. At the Barbary.
>>> New party alert: Other Delights at Medusa. Disco-edit weirdos MatPat are behind this one, and based on the MySpace tracks we’ve heard (check their dice-up of Ella Fitzgerald’s “Honeysuckle Rose,” no, seriously), we support fully. Strawberry Mansion DJs guest.
>>> And, ah, that’s it! Wow! January. Make your own fun. Recession chic. All of it.

SATURDAY:
>>> Even though we’ve been told directly from the source that Saturday could be the last BC Camplight show ever, we’re still having a hard time believing it. But, it’s best to be safe: They’re at the 941 Theater with The Bye Byes and Surefire Broadcast. Note: This show is BYOB. The future is BYOB. My house? BYOB. The street? BYOB. The 25 Bus? BYOB.
>>> Proud new weird Americans, take note: Mats Gustafsson & Thurston Moore are at International House, keeping the East Coast strange.
>>> Elsewhere: SugarTown celebrates its anniversary with with The Friggs and Philly bands paying tribute to L7, Bikini Kill, and Mecca Normal. Girl sound, her sound. DJ Julia Factorial, who should really be out spinning more, spins as well. Ironic metalheads, you’re not left out this weekend, either: Stinking Lizaveta, Iron Man, Pale Divine, and Misstallica play Johnny Brenda’s. Free entry if you’re wearing a panama hat. Just kidding. Bet you can’t beat my high score on Diamond Dave Assteroids, tho. Saying.

SUNDAY:
>>> Rescheduled Punk Rock Flea Market! At the Electric Factory.
>>> And of course, the SuperBowl. If anybody has a Bruce Springsteen Drinking Game, please leave it in the comments. See ya on Monday, world!

a few months ago, my man and i were at the Khyber for all-you-can-drink sunday, drinking and dancing, good times. and then one of the Strawberry Mansion DJs put on TOK’s chi chi man. for those who aren’t familiar, the song is about shooting, setting fire to, and ultimately killing men for being homosexual. so, yeah, fuck those guys. i will never, ever go to any event they are selecting records for ever again. and i don’t think you should either. that is all. have a great weekend.

If Bruce plays a song off his new record, do a shot.

If Bruce says “Is there anybody ALIVE out there???” Do a shot.

If Bruce says “C’mon Stevie!”, do a shot.

When Bruce and Little Steven sing into the same mic, do a shot.

If Bruce looks knowingly at Patti and she smiles back coyly, do a shot.

If Bruce plays ‘Born In The USA’, then goddamn people, do a shot.

If Bruce alludes to Obama or hope or some other new beginning in America type thing, do a double shot.

If Bruce closes with ‘Born To Run’, drink the entire bottle (could be a guarantee to get you faced).
