Film Sweat: Help The Heath Ledger Family Fund
RECOMMENDED: We have had deep, lovelike feelings for Michelle Williams ever since we first spied her in The Baxter: There, she was fragile, smart, beautiful, otherworldly, even. Then, Heath Ledger died, and we wanted to take her in, feed her tea and biscuits, and babysit Matilda Rose so that Michelle could go out and get some fresh air and come back with some nice jazz records for us to listen to. Perhaps this is a little bit too much information. The point: Williams is capable of heartwrenching feats even within the scope of a light romantic comedy, so we are bracing for Wendy And Lucy, a this-could-totally-happen-to-you tale of what happens when your abstract economic woes come crashing into real life, and suddenly, you are out on the street. Oh, and also, on the heels of Heath’s Oscar nod, The Dark Knight is back in theaters.
ALSO NEW IN THEATERS THIS WEEK: Waltz With Bashir, a highly stylized animated film about the Lebanese conflict of the early 80s, which picked up a Best Foreign Language Film nom this week; Inkheart, which is like The Never-Ending Story for people who don’t wanna marf every time they see Brendan Fraser; Outlander, or as it should be called, VIKINGS VS. ALIENS: OH YES WE FUCKING DID!; and Underworld 3: Rise of the Lycans, which you will not see because you are not a 13 year old boy. But that Bill Nighy guy from Love, Actually is in it and we have this Weird Old Man/Priestcrush on him, so whatever.

Oh c’mon! Michelle Williams is a great actress, but after she breaks Michael Showalter’s heart, she dumps him and moves on to Heath Ledger, driving him to suicide!
I mean, yeah, put her in a movie and I am compelled against my morals to watch her perform, but take her in? She’s a maneater! She’ll only hurt you, then chew you up, and spit you out.
Don’t do it!
