SteagleBowl: It Might Could Happen

steagleslogophilebrity.gifIndeed, we have made mention on this site of the Steagles concept before. And by now, you’ve probably thought on your own or had someone mention to you the realer-by-the-minute notion of an Eagles/Steelers Superbowl. Anyone who knows anything about football in this city has probably already admitted, at least in a whisper to themselves, that the Steelers would absofuckinglutely crush us, but it would also, once and for all, force the rest of the state of PA to finally stop pussyfooting around and let us know how much they truly, truly hate us. On the upside, we could re-iterate our deep, abiding hate for Pennsyltucky in such a way that we could finally secede this dogshit piece of land — and then, later, America itself — altogether. We mention it not just because, in some cases, wishing does make things so, but also because this is just one of the steaming piles Governor Ed Rendell would be confronted with in the event of — and we’re pretty sure we are coining this sniglet here — The SteagleBowl! SteagleBowl. Now that has a nice ring to it.

Good number of Steelers’ fans in town. That’s 2 weeks of a whole lot of bar fights.

I would love a PA Super Bowl. I think both cities are great and kind of really like PA. Get some homestate pride, Philebs. Have you ever even driven the turnpike the whole way? It’s kind of beautiful, our topography, our little towns, our GREAT beer, our weirdness, our food. I’ll somehow root for both teams if they both make it. But this isn’t the first time that Eagles and Steelers were in their respective Championship games (I think ‘01 was last time). Let’s pull it off this time.

I have several hardcore Steelers fans in my family who root for the Eagles just as hard (when they aren’t playing each other). I think it would be a lot less brutal than you’re expecting.

@towncrier: I read you loud and clear about the wonders of PA, but you make no mention of the, er, amazing people that inhabit it. It’s like Fishtown in the mountains out there.

What? If you have seen professional football you know anything can happen. But more importantly when the Eagles played the Steelers this season the Eagles “absofuckinglutely” crushed them.

When Philebrity posts about football it’s like my grandmother trying to talk about skateboarding.

@towncrier, @tips, re: “It’s like Fishtown in the mountains out there”…as are they all, every friggin’ state in this crazy Union…and, not for nothin’, many of them don’t have the mountains / beer / food…ever driven across Oklahoma? Kansas? Missouri? And you don’t have to detour too far off I-95 to realize that you wouldn’t want to put down stakes in the beautiful states of VA / NC / SC / GA / FL.

I believe the expression is “Like Kensington, only colder.”

    “Fishtown in the Mountains”

You just know some freak folkie will use this as the title for their next record.

@ rob reed: We acknowledge this openly. But the point is, we try. And we do it for you. For you.

I saw a 40+ mom with her 2 kids in LOVE Park, early on a Sunday morning, letting them skateboard. Way to go cool mom. Next kids, Mommy shows you how to run from the cops!

J., I love you but man can you tell that you don’t watch football. The Eagles KILLED the Steelers earlier in the season.

On to another note though…why isn’t anyone talking about a possible I-95 bowl against Philadelphia and Baltimore? B-more is only an hour and a half from Philly and Pittsburg is all the way in Ohio/West Virginia. It gets better, Baltimore’s head coach was a special teams coach for the Eagles till last year. Also their breakout quarterback is from the South Jerz and was an Eagle fan.

If there’s a SteagleBowl they should play in Penn State’s Beaver Stadium, for reals!

  17. pakman Says:

why not a Bird Bowl – Eagles vs Ravens

I went to the ‘burgh for the first time last month. Have you ever had a sandwhich with coleslaw and fries ON it? Tasty!
