Live Nation To Ticketmaster: Suck It, Bitches

livenationfacebook.jpgWhosoever among us has not, at one time or another, cursed the foul god Ticketmaster to the heavens? Hatred of the ticketing giant has been so widespread over the last 15 years that there is now a dizzying array of ticket-buying and -selling options, from Brown Paper Tickets on the indie end to ComcastTix.com, which is every bit as detestable as Ticketmaster on principle alone. Now, long after you thought they would have already, nationwide concert promoters Live Nation have entered the fray and are selling tickets to shows directly through their website, LiveNation.com. We mention this: A) because it’s a loud shot across the bow for those who’ve long lamented Ticketmasters policies and fees (though, to be fair, we don’t know how significant Live Nation’s upcharges will be, either) and B) because this directly affects you if you want to buy tickets for anything — anything — going on at the Susquehanna Bank Center, Tower Theater and Theater of the Living Arts. LiveNation is now officially playing hardball with this jawn and are selling tickets to those venues exclusively.

I guess Pearl Jam might be happy about this. This is most likely a case of Live Nation seeing they can easily take over Ticketmaster’s domain for their own benefit. They will probably suck just as hard.

    Meet the new boss…

i went to LiveNation.com and randomly selected the Weiland show. same boss indeed. wowzers:

Scott Weiland @ TLA face value ticket: $29.50

    Ticket Fee: $13.50

    TICKET TOTAL: $43.00

Econ 101, yo. It’s called price discrimination. The tickets are $43, but they’ll give you a $13 discount if you drive to Bum-Fucking Cynwyd.

That they still do this isn’t so much evil as it is stupid. Why not just say, “tickets are $43! And we don’t add on service charges like the other places!”

live nation is clearchannel, and is every bit as if not more evil than ticketmaster.

ok Live Nation actually does do great shows….and Ticketmaster gets on my damn nerves. I hate paying so much extra for a damn e-ticket. What’s fandango.com like? I understand they’re handling events like the new Notorious Movie coming out this friday….
