Yes: the hillbilly who is cut off from the outside world has an excuse. The slob living in Philly–one of the oldest, largest, most culturally rich cities in America–does not.

BUT: For the record, being a dumb, racist, xenophobic, thuggish slob is one thing. Being a toothless hillbilly is something else entirely. Unless you count those people across the street from us.

I wonder if they like to gamble.

So let’s move that casino into Market East because how much worse can it get, right? No one’s going to notice a little more crime and trash over there, right? I’d like to know how that $100 million Nutter is asking for is going to “revitalize” Market East. From what I can tell, the best revitalization happens from the ground up, not the casino down.
