PSA: Put That Book Larnin’ To Good Use And Write A Letter
Hallwatch.org started a faxbank to collect letters protesting the proposed shuttering of 11 libraries. Through their site, you can find out the contact information for your local officials and how to contact them about this issue. Why is it important you ask?
…Branch libraries provide a place for kids to study after school; for seniors to keep their minds active; for job seekers to get information and internet access. Our libraries are community centers and avenues of upward mobility for our young people.
Do your part and get involved. Or, if you wanna kick ‘em some cash, click here. Yer $10 can make a difference.

[Rally To Save The Libraries At Central Branch Tomorrow]

Please note that the donated 10 dollars does NOT go directly to the libraries, but rather goes to the “Friends of the Free Library” who will then do what they want with the money. There’s no saying that money will go directly to keeping the libraries open, rather to their efforts holding rallies and whatnot. Kinda misleading.

I love libraries but if they don’t cut this out of the budget, what do you propose they cut instead? We have a budget problem, we can’t get everything we want and still keep the city functioning.

Yeah, that’s according to “One-Term Nutter.”
Are you going to take his word for it? He has yet to show any hard numbers and/or data regarding his budget and cuts.
