Insane Shouting Man Buys House In Philly, Plans To Get Other, Crankier Old Man In The Crosshairs And Take Him Down

Like you, we’ve been hearing for about a year now that lovable homegrown loudmouth Chris Matthews had designs on running for the PA Senate seat. But we have to admit: Once Matthews’ current gig at MSNBC enjoyed a surge in popularity during the election season, we were thrown off the scent. After all, it’s one thing to leave a modestly successful TV post to become a public servant; it’s still entirely another to leave one’s own iconic television program only to douse the entire body in Purel and go about the actual hard work and total schlumpy bummer of shaking babies and kissing hands. But if you watch Hardball enough — and we do — you know that like us, Matthews is a stubborn old prick who simply cannot be deterred by common sense (or the voice of anyone, anyone at all, talking at the same time that he’d like to be talking). But it would seem the die is cast: Matthews just got himself a new crib in Philly (thereby establishing residency), is buddying up with a legal team at
Wolf Block, and “came out” about his intentions to his family over Thanksgiving dinner. His target? None other than Arlen Specter, World’s Oldest Man and celebrated author of the Single Bullet Theory. That’s good for us, we suppose, but bad for the TV: Execs at MSNBC are already wondering when he’s gonna hand in his resignation — OR if this is all a play to ratchet up his own contract re-negotiations. But we’re gonna guess and say that this is the real deal: As stubborn micks ourselves, we know that when cornered, our people will always make the absolutely stupidest move possible.

We would certainly have two of the blandest guys in the Senate with Casey and Hoeffel.

  4. Perfectly Disgraceful Says:

I can’t see how Hoeffle could beat Matthews.

But more importantly, where is Matthews’ new house?

  5. Timo Says:

I’ll take two bland guys if it means 60 seat majority.
