Rumblings: Hustlers, No Doubt
>>>Solomon Leach reports in Metro that the lobbying is on as Comcast tries to hold down their non-satellite TV monopoly by giving backrubs to City Council. Favorite quote, from Verizon spokeswoman Sharon Shaffer: “After a deliberative process that began in June, Verizon and the city have negotiated an outstanding agreement that will make FiOS TV available throughout the city in seven years.” Seven? Crap. [Metro]
>>>Do you know why Ronnie Polaneczky can’t stop herself from salivating over the SugarHouse casino? Has she been promised a jumbo-seat-recliner-stool and a glassed-in private smoking slot-machine? What gives? We would never imply that this could be like when columnists were praising-for-pay the No Child Left Behind Act, because that would be mean and libelous. Times are tough at the Daily News, we know, but come on. Just take a buyout and sign on as their flack. [DN]
>>>To our brethren at the Wilmington News-Journal: we are sad (not even kidding – we truly are sad, because the world needs ever-more information about Joe Biden) to hear that you are the latest casualties in the ongoing death of print journalism, to the tune of 44 jobs. But you know what sticks in our craw? Check out these gross profit numbers from Gannett, the News-Journal’s overlords. This Gannett Blog is great, by the way, because nothing is more indignant and potentially vindictive than a journalist scorned. [Gannett Blog/Oberjuerge, via Romenesko]

I’m still confused how it is that if you oppose the live music venue at the Jumbo Theater sight, you are an awful slow-witted Nimbyist. But if you oppose the slots parlor at the abandoned sugar refinary, you are a noble protector of all that is a good in the river wards?

So a Daily News columnist wrote a column highlighting some people on one side on an issue when you are on the other side. She must be on the take, right?
I hope you’re not planning on posting anything about the proposed bail-out of the auto industry, Mr. Advertorial. For reference: http://willdo.pwblogs.com/2007/02/26/hipsters-now-popular-enough-to-shill-30k-cars/
Philocrisy strikes again! Also for reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypocrisy

Jesus Christ you’re a one-note Charlie, Brennan.

The media critic can’t take media criticism? Strike three for Philocrisy. Yer our.

I’m not quite sure what Brennan’s point is. I know I should probably ignore him and all, but it just does not follow. I don’t see our esteemed host praising in the Infiniti brand on this blog, so that’s not exactly the same as being “on the take”. Nor do I see what that has to do with the automotive bailout, other than the fact that they both involve cars. Am I missing something, or is the link really as tenuous as it appears?

@Nate: It really is that tenuous. Brennan’s an unrepentant Company Man, and he’s still all kinds of dickhurt that we took notice of Dan Gross’ lamentable fate.
