Asshole Bar In Old City Now Offering Leg Shots
We wandered by Place We Would Never Go Cebu over the holiday weekend and noticed this candy-striping from L&I in the photo above. A candy-striping — or “Cease Operations” order — is never a good sign; in fact, it means you are usually fucked for a good long while, and the list of infractions on the order was mighty. At the time, we wondered why we hadn’t heard tell of other bars with the same fate; generally, L&I conducts “raids” by multiples. But this one didn’t make sense ’til we saw that Cebu was so outtacontrolbonercity in the wee hours of Thursday that some poor girl got shot in the leg. To which we can only say: Old City, we love you, we want to get back together with you too, but damn you make it so hard.

That’s the third shooting in, as many weeks, at 2nd and Chestnut. And last week, there was a rape on Bank Street, near the old Five Spot.
We’ve waited all our lives to live in an exciting Philadelphia, and what do we get? Exactly what we asked for.
There goes the neighborhood. Where to next, without resorting to the suburbs?

I’m beginning to feel like the soul of Delaware Ave in the late 90s is like the bad guy from Fallen. Kill the douchebag clubs all you want, the spirit of nightclub shootings will just move to a new body.
