Yayyyy! Christmas Village Is Almost Here!

Sure, the city’s going to hell in a handbasket and you keep getting emails telling everybody not to buy gift cards this Christmas because all retail is going to die, die, die, but let’s be the first out of the gate to say it: This is the kind of War On Christmas we’ve been hoping for all along. The kind of war that strips the big box stores of their power and sends us all into the cities where we sip hot drinks and buy things that no decent human being would ever think in a million years of even trying to return, because it’s food, or soap, or some kind of handmade ornament. Prior to a couple of days ago, we had no idea that Christmas Village In Philadelphia existed; now, it’s seriously all we can think about. Every day from Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve, on the west side of Dilworth Plaza, over 50 vendors will gather in a little village that’s being constructed now (pictures here), and oh, the cuteness that will rain down upon us! This might be just the environmental Zoloft that Bizarro Nutter needs; maybe Dude will see the Ghost Of Library Reprieves Future. Just in case any real Christmas miracles go down, I’m already following the Village’s Twitter.
