Halloweekend Picks: Hey Now, Hey Now Now, Sing This Corrosion To Me

FRIDAY:
>>> First things first: AN INDIE ROCK SHOW IS NOT A HALLOWEEN PARTY. That is, unless all concerned really go the extra mile to make this crazy Halloweenphilsobama ENERGY take over, thereby superceding whatever tired rockness is printed on the ticket. For Man Man, we suspect, this won’t be a problem, as the band was pretty much constructed to play gigs in environments like this. Their big homecoming gig/Halloween party is at the Starlight Ballroom tonight, $12 with costume/$15 without.
>>> But you know what IS a Halloween Party? The Sisters Of Mercy, even when they’re playing in July. Lucky for you, tho, they’re here TONIGHT at the The Troc with the Sex Dwarf peoples DJing after. I mean, come on.
>>> There’s a thing in our listings that says Murphy’s Law is having a Halloween Bash at JC Dobbs on South Street, but no, it can’t be. Can it be?
>>> Other very viable party alternatives: Madonna Michael Prince: Halloween Edition at the Barbary, since people lose their brains on Halloween anyway and all they wanna do is hear “Thriller,” and the downstairs, free, Halloween Jam at Johnny Brenda’s with the Grasshopper ladies hosting and the whole neighborhood dressed up like a priest. Also, Illvibe’s H-ween jam at M Room and oh my God, I almost entirely forgot Making Time with Hercules & Love Affair at Transit. Wow. That plus all your house parties and Parade = your Friday, obliterated already.
>>> WHOA THIS JUST IN: The Ting Tings at the Barbary, 7pm early show.

SATURDAY:

Still tons of Halloween parties going on, notably Japanese psych freakerouters DMBQ at Danger Danger Gallery with two floors of bands and Halloween fun. But also that party down the street from you.

SUNDAY:
>>> Complete your costume rock weekend with Danielson Familie’s CD release at 941 Theater, 6:30pm, all ages.
>>> And check out the debut of Instamatic, the new snyth-pop band coming your way comprised in part of the Crimp Yr Hair DJs. At Silk City’s Sunday Ugly Disko party.
