I hope he wears an Argyle sweater. A better color, though.

OMFG. WE GET A PARADE. I still can’t believe it. 2008 Phils, I could not be more proud of you.

  4. scottcgross Says:

The city should leave all the downed traffic lights, overturned planters, flipped cars, and wrecked bus shelters on the street for the parade so that everyone can see how Phillies fans thought they should celebrate.

what a night. complete joy on Broad Street

  6. Philly Chit Chat Says:

The press conference is at the stadium, which is a great place, not so much for me. And Broad Street joy and the agony of defeat. Seems to be a news blackout of what I saw. UGLY!!

News reported the luggage store looting, and the overturned cars (and you can infer a lot of Broad St. around City Hall was trashed up). Police deployed riot police around Broad and Walnut about 15-20 minutes after I told my friend, “We’re not sticking around to see if he can actually take down that traffic light.” But it could have been considerably worse and the majority of folks out there were spreading a positive vibe.

I got some pics, most of them aren’t all that good, I’ll see if I can post them up in a bit. Time to learn about Picasa I guess.

PCC - I wouldn’t say a blackout … it’s been in the rotating KYW1060 ‘casts as well as all four local outlets had reporters at Walnut Street this morning as part of their round-robin coverage; each reporting on the damage.

The truth is - as bad as it was, it’s not going to overshadow the Big Story of a championship. That’s where the ratings are — in all forms of media.

I agree, I guess if I wasn’t there it wouldn’t have been such an emotional thing for me, and I wish I didn’t see it. I just had higher expectations for our City. I guess I blog about too many events and parties where people have a good time and they don’t set fire to anything.

  10. C. The Impaler Says:

PCC, that’s why most parties have invite lists. To keep the firebugs out.
