215 Fest Extra Update Freegrab Wowpusher: Hodgman Sold Out, But You Can Win ‘Em Here And Also, FREE IAN SVENONIUS DANCE PARTY!

Whoa, that’s a mouthful. But here is what’s up right this second. Like we warned you yesterday, John Hodgman & Friends at the Latvian Society is SOLD OUT. (However, there will be a few more pairs released at the door, we are told, so all hope is not lost, just show up super early.) Meantime, we saw this coming, so we held a pair to give away here: To enter to win a pair of tickets to see John Hodgman & Friends at the Latvian Society tonight, send an email to ihopeiwin[at]philebrity[dot]com with “MOLE MEN” in the subject header. We’ll pick a winner shortly, around the same time we pick winners for the Magnetic Fields tix.
More good news: We forgot to mention yesterday that the afterparty at the Latvian tonight is FREE, starts at 11pm, and is DJed by the one and only Ian Svenonius (pictured). Now, Ian (catch his new interview with Calvin Johnson on “Soft Focus” here), the Latvian Society, and the 215 are three great tastes that taste great together. If you’ve never been the Latvian — or “The Society of Free Letts,” as it is alternately known — you’re in for a treat. It looks like it’s straight out of an Eastern Bloc version of Mad Men, they have these great big Eastern European beers that knock you on your ass in one shot, and the vibe is just wonderful. Meanwhile, Ian Svenonius may in fact be a wild anti-establishment socialist talk show host punk rock freak, but he is also a fantastic DJ. Last time we caught him at the Turnaround at the Barbary, he played “Werewolves of London” and I swear I nearly lost my mind. It doesn’t take much, I know. Anyway, those are the updates for now: For more on the 215 Fest, scroll down to see a whole bunch of 215-related posts, or visit the 215 Festival website.
