Update: Tierney’s McCain Stump Still Having Repercussions
We hate to harp on this, but really: The Inky’s dual-endorsement on Sunday of both Barack Obama and John McCain is now fully reverberating like a fart in an elevator. Since we got corroboration yesterday that the double-dip was indeed most likely — duh — the handiwork of Brian Tierney, who once promised that he’d never, ever interfere with the Inky’s editorial page, the story’s real repercussions are starting to come forth. One thing we noticed was a commenter on our earlier post claiming that she’d discontinued her subscription to the paper — something we do not hesitate to encourage any Inky subscribers out there who are upset by all of this to do. The best way to let Tierney know how you feel about this is with your wallet, after all. And then, late yesterday saw a piece on the NY Times politics blog detailing the affair. When pressed about his involvement in the dual endorsement, Tierney was the very worst kind of glib:
Mr. Tierney declined to comment on what position he took, but said he was comfortable with the dual endorsement.
“I like doing something different,” he said.
Ugh. I’m starting to think that we should boycott these fuckers, too. How would that be for something a little different?
