    Interesting. My ancestors were slave owners in Virginia. I have in my possesion a will transfering ownership of the family slaves from one brother to another. One thing is certain, slaves wern’t cheap. Within the will, the value of all possessions were listed and slaves were valued between 8- $10,000 a piece. Seems like a huge amount of money for the 1800′s.

    So, one of the resident GOP flamethrowers has ancestors who were slave owners. Really? Because, c’mon, who would have ever made the connection between the antebellum landed gentry and today’s Republican party? Wonders will never cease.

    Obama has spoken in support of reparations. My family is excited by this because when the slaves were freed, we lost an investment worth over $100,000. It is high time my family was compensated for this loss.

    Funny that you say that. A google search of obama and reperations brings up a front page that alternates between “obama endorse reperations” and “obama opposes reperations”. And surprise surprise they’ll all blog posts and opinions. So let’s look at some quotes:

    “I personally would want to see our tragic history, or the tragic elements of our history, acknowledged,” he told conventioneers.

    “I consistently believe that when it comes to whether it’s Native Americans or African-American issues or reparations, the most important thing for the U.S. government to do is not just offer words, but offer deeds,” he said.

    ^^ you could spin it that was code word for here comes the checks or…

    “I have said in the past _ and I’ll repeat again _ that the best reparations we can provide are good schools in the inner city and jobs for people who are unemployed,”

    ^^ which just sounds like a good idea. city schools are falling apart all across the country. and their are proven ties between education and crime, education and standards of living, et..

    Also reperations do not work that way, so you’re just trying to push buttons and get a response.
