Readers Write: The End Of Philly Style Could Be At Least One Upside To This Shit-Tastic Economy

Hey – I got nothing to back this up, but just heard through the grapevine that Niche Media, the folks who bought Philly Style last year, just let all their staffs go. Like the whole company, not just Philly Style, like everyone at all their publications.

COULD IT BE? CAN IT BE? We don’t know, but we have a call in. Developing.

I’m not mad at these publications, because they tell people I don’t feel like acknowledging where to spend their time and money.

Does anyone know how deep the Philly Style cuts are?
Did PS in fact liquidate the entire staff?
PS is one of 15 or 18 mags owned by Niche Media (NY), a subsidiary with a national presence of the massive Vegas-based Greenspun Corp. Philly Style lay-offs, if any, are one the barometers of this volatile economy, telling of how soon anyone in any other work driven by discretionary income can expect to lose his/her job.

So, any updates are of great interest to any working stiff.

    Does anyone know anything?

Didn’t IReport post a premature death last week of Steve Jobs which caused Apple Stock to drop 5% and now someone is getting sued for not fact checking, or at least checking with Steve Jobs if he was still alive? I called Philadelphia Style Magazine, still alive.

I thought the fact that Phillystyle can’t fit into your average Philadelphia door mailslot without much mail carrier cursing and grunting was what killed Phillystyle.

Don’t ask me why I got an issue of it, I don’t know, but when it dropped on my floor months back it seriously scared me. Thought someone finally figured out where I lived and pulled a hernia while heaving a mailbomb through my slot. Hence the S. Philly relocation.
