I love Obama and all, but you’ve got to expect this kind of talk when you go videotaping a rally alongside Democratic protesters. And besides, protesting a GOP rally is not a very constructive way to change people’s minds. This would probably happen in any state, not just PA.

Best philebrity post ever (well, maybe aside from the Dr. Philebrity columns) – why are these people so angry? The cameraperson did a great job asking the McCain supporters if they really meant what they said.

its like they are bad characterizations of themselves

    bad caricatures, but yes.

I’ve seen better in this genre, and like jfich, I’m not sure exactly what the point is this late in the game. My best guess is someone with a video camera wants to “do their part” in GOTV (get pro-Obama people who actually might stay at home (i.e. “youth vote”) to get out there even in strongholds like Philly to ensure Obama’s got a numerical mandate over these buffoons.

It’s not hard to “document” inarticulate people unable to back up their voting convictions … I’m sure someone’s out there baiting Obama supporters into saying they hate the troops, or the troops deserve their casualties, or think Christians should die or what have you. It’s the downside of ubiquitous uncredited or un-credentialed media.

I went to Lehigh and this is more than a little embarrassing. It says a lot about the demographics of the area. What is sad is that their comments about Obama weren’t so much about policy things so much as about tangential, false slanders. Sadly, this is where the McCain campaign has steered this campaign with it’s recent Bill Ayers comments.

And you think Allentown might be cooler than Philly? It’s full of these people.

I think it’s telling that these Republicans are opposed to Obama, as Sidd said, because of false slander. I haven’t met a single Democrat who is opposed to McCain because of a false idea about McCain.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions but make sure of the accuracy of one’s convictions first – this is horrifying!!!
I’m stunned that they still think Obama is Muslim. Even if he was, what difference does that make? There is a huge difference in being religious and being fanatically religious.
Hearing the Bethlehem folks on the video really made me sad and made me realize that we need to spend more money on education. This may have been the most terrifying thing I’ve seen during this whole damn electoral process to date.

I watched this video and started shouting back at these people. It’s 2008 – who the hell yells “Commie faggot” in this day and age?!?! That’s like something I saw on the History Channel on a 1960′s documentary!

And they called Obama supporters socialists??? Really? By definition, President Bush is socialist! Definition “Socialism is the intermediate system between capitalism and communism, when the government is in the process of changing the means of ownership from privatism, to collective ownership.[5] [6]” He just used $700 billion we don’t have to bail out the banks and wall street, therby making the government the “owner” of private sector!!!!

    Ignorance truly must be bliss.
