ED SNIDER HAS NO FUCKING SOUL.
WORLD’S MOST POPULAR HOCKEY MOM SARAH PALIN TO DROP PUCK DURING PHILADELPHIA FLYERS OPENING NIGHT FESTIVITIES
AT WACHOVIA CENTER ON OCTOBER 11PALIN TO JOIN FLYERS HOCKEY MOM CONTEST WINNER ON ICE BEFORE GAME
(Philadelphia, PA – October 8, 2008) Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, the nation’s most popular hockey mom, will join the winner of the Philadelphia Flyers regional search for the “Ultimate Hockey Mom” contest and drop the puck at the ceremonial opening face-off as the home team Flyers host the New York Rangers at the Wachovia Center on Saturday, October 11 at 7 p.m.
“Because of the tremendous amount of publicity she has brought to our sport, we invited the most popular hockey mom in North America to our home opener to help us get our season started,” said Comcast-Spectacor Chairman Ed Snider who founded the Flyers in 1967. “We are very excited she has accepted our offer and we are very proud of the publicity she is generating for hockey moms and the sport of hockey.”
Flyers fans, here’s your chance to behave more badly than you have in the entire history of the sport. We are relying you to send this woman home in howling embarassment. We’ll leave it up to you to figure out how.
The Flyers have been searching for the ultimate hockey mom in the Greater Philadelphia Region through an on line contest which asked hockey players or hockey moms themselves to submit their hockey mom poster to the team.
Hockey moms and players were encouraged to submit posters showing their hockey mom pride and their loyalty and dedication to the sport via the team’s website, philadelphiaflyers.com, by October 7. The team will award all hockey moms entered into the contest with a free “puck-er peach” lipstick and four tickets to a Philadelphia Phantoms hockey game. The winner will appear on the ice with Palin for opening face-off.
In addition to the in-game recognition, the ultimate hockey mom winner will receive a $500 gift certificate to David J. Witchell Salon and Spa/Insyte Cosmetics, a $500 gift certificate to the Wachovia Center’s Fan Gear store, a Hockey Mom Flyers jersey, four tickets to a Phantoms game, skating passes good for any of the four Flyers Skate Zone locations, and a $500 gas card — a package ultimately totaling over $5,000. Second and third place finishers will receive a $500 gift card to be redeemed at Gear Zone, the hockey pro shop at all four Flyers Skate Zone locations.
Individual home game tickets are on sale now exclusively through ComcastTIX at philadelphiaflyers.com or 1-800-298-4200.
Comcast-Spectacor (WachoviaCenter.com) is the Philadelphia-based sports and entertainment company which owns the Philadelphia Flyers (NHL), the Philadelphia 76ers (NBA), the Philadelphia Phantoms (AHL), the two arenas in which their teams play, the Wachovia Center and Wachovia Spectrum, four Flyers Skate Zone community ice skating and hockey rinks and Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia. In addition, Comcast-Spectacor is also the principal owner of Global Spectrum, the fastest growing firm in the public assembly management field with more than 70 facilities throughout the United States and Canada; Ovations Food Services, a food and beverage service provider; New Era Tickets, a ticketing and marketing company for public assembly facilities; Front Row Marketing Services, a commercial rights sales company; and 3601 Creative Group, a full-service in-house advertising agency. In a partnership with Disson Skating, Comcast-Spectacor annually produces 10 nationally televised figure skating spectaculars on NBC.

Seriously? Did Snyder have his head that far up his ass when Palin was here last time? And you’re not calling this a Comcastic Hyperspace Clusterfuck? Screw the firebombing, Philebrity should invade the 700 Level and incite a
riotmassive display of public disapproval. Philadelphia could decide this race for the nation by going allChicago ‘68Rage Against the Machine parking lot at another vapid Palin photo op.October 8th, 2008 at 8:38 pm
OK, I haven’t wanted to comment on these, but I am:
I’m no conservative, and I’m not planning on voting for McCain, but for the love of god, can you stop with the rampant “MCCAIN AND PALIN ARE EVIL!!!!!11″ stuff? Can you at least TRY to have a fair view on this election? I love this blog, it’s awesome, and I read it daily… but seriously, don’t you think this is getting petty? I bet 99% of the people who read this blog already don’t plan on voting for McCain, why keep going on like this?
How about at least ONE anti-Obama post just to mix it up?

A fair view on this election? This nitwit is coming to Philadelphia and using the opening night of the Flyers’ season to try and pull some bullshit political stunt? Fuck that. It’s exactly this sort of bullshit that needs to be pointed out and mocked mercilessly.

Yeah, a fair view. It’s an election, and everyone makes weird campaign stops like this. Your making fun of her for dropping the puck at the Flyer’s game, what is so horrible about her living up to her “hockey mom” persona?
I won’t lie, her doing this in Philly is stupid for one reason only: 80% of registered voters are Democrats and, since it’s so apparent most people vote for a party and not their brain, 80% of people in this city most likely are ready to vote for Obama.
At the same time, they realize the strategic advantage of Pennsylvania in the upcoming election and that, in fact, the Philadelphia suburbs are where this election is going to be decided, something anyone following this election can tell you.
This is going to go one of two ways; either just ugly outside as a bunch of people take a hockey game and turn it into the biggest political event possible or a LOT uglier when a lot of people make it ugly inside AND out because of this. Bad move for the Flyer’s to do this, although understandable.

Larry, this is a blog, not the Associated Press; if you want balanced coverage go to Fox (I kid). I think it’s fair to be pissed that something many Philadelphians and sports fans have been looking forward to (the beginning of the season)has been turned into a political stunt. I don’t want this woman anywhere near my city, let alone ruining a moment I’ve been waiting for. Let her drop the puck in Alaska - she has no right to be here.

larry, this is a nice response. Thanks for taking your time to write it out. As opposed to say other people who come here (burnside and that dude who sweeney made fun of) saying a lot of negative comments.

Keep in mind that any sort of antics beyond booing - while intensely satisfying - could backfire. The footage will be widely circulated not just here, but everywhere, instantly. So keep that in mind before y’all start a riot.
Still though, puck Falin.

If I didn’t already have a Saturday night commitment, I’d probably go to the game just to boo her.
