Half-hearted apologies: Where would we, as a city, be without them? Don’t answer that: Instead, marvel at how chief aide to councilman W. Wilson Goode Jr. Latrice Bryant has been able to take a minor, probably-nothing-would-have-happened scandal (doesn’t fill out time sheets right! drinks beer with boss! maybe more!) and really and truly turn it into the most colossal pigfuck of the year. This just in: Latrice sent a public letter of apology to Goode that, no shit, rivals Britney’s Letters of Truth for sheer I-don’t-understand-words-coming-out-of-my-mouth lunacy. (Sadly, this is not where the Britney comparisons could end.) In the letter, Bryant fauxpologizes to Goode, “to City Council President Anna C. Verna, to all other City Council members and staffers, to those among Fox 29 personnel who have acted professionally, and especially to all residents and taxpayers in Philadelphia.” She also apologizes twice for “my public, albeit silent, display of the handwritten signs,” as if to say she should get points for not shouting something like, oh, say, “CRACKER CRACKER I FUCKING HATE YOU CRACKER AGGGHHHHH!!!!!” Which, you know, maybe she should. I just don’t know anymore. But old grudges die hard, and somewhere in all this, she also manages to say the following:

“I remain just as steadfast ly opposed to Fox 29’s implications that an educated 36 year old African-American woman with nearly 15 years of City work experience should not earn a decent salary consistent with what white males (who do less work) commonly earn.”

We’re hardly the first people to point this out so at the risk of beating a dead horse (and we cannot believe we’re sticking up for Fox 29, BUT…): NOBODY SAID ANY OF THAT SHIT, LATRICE. Although we think you might have just said something racist (albeit totally true) yourself. But fuggit: At this point, let’s just call it even.
