My God I’d Pay Out Of My Own Pocket To Get Marnie Hall To A Speech Therapist
Of course, you know the voice. It’s the one you hear at the reception desk at the doctor’s office or coming out of the server at Port Richmond Appleby’s, and most of the time, you let it blow by you unnoticed. Every so often, though, on days when you are feeling less charitable, just hearing the long gravelly ignorant snore that passes for speech among our native (mostly Northeast and DelCo) population is enough to make steam come out of your ears, grab the speaker by the collar, and shoutspit into their faces, “DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW FUCKING STUPID YOU SOUND?” You never get the answer you want, though. Instead, you get this:
COWME AWN YEWE KNOWE YEWE DEW ID! EVVERRRYBUTTY DOES ID! WEER TOKKING ABOUWD GOSSIB!
Marnie Hall, seriously: You’re on the Internet now. Not sure what you can do about that Joan Krajewsi smoker’s throat, but I’ll be damned if you couldn’t sound like you have a GED if you tried really hard. Please, baby. Please.

Nails on a chalkboard to me, any time I hear that accent. How does she get away with talking like this in a public forum? The young woman who does the “25 under 25″ or something like that on philly.com has a similar accent, as do the hosts of their “Down the Shore” (ripoff, as pointed out here) video segments. YUCK!

i dont think you want a speech therapist, but rather an “orthoepist”; “any of a group of 16th- and 17th-century writers who sought to establish a standard pronunciation of English and usually to reform the spelling system in accordance with it.” – sez OED

Seriously? It’s not so bad. I believe this IS her speech cleaned up and straightened out. Her accent is more Montgomery County than K&A.

Well let me say That I think she does a nice job and certainly she is pleasant to look at while she is doing her work. I don’t think you can afford to send someone to a speech therapist only because you can’t afford to do so on the salary you get from washing dishes at Chickie and Petes. You should hear how stupid and angry you sound. There’s more on your mind than any gossip show. Get a life , better yet get an education and a real job. Incidently the only thing shoutspitting in your ear is, while drunk, go eagles go! Get a life turkey.

Marnie Hall is a very nice lady. I love her accent which sounds more like a South Jersey Girl. I like her work and she is a HOTTIE!
