Some People Using Their Noodle
Rock the Vote! is coming to Philadelphia, as it must. Tomorrow, Community College of Philadelphia is hosting the Rock the Vote! Road Trip, delivering Talib Kweli, Solange (Knowles, that is), and Nikki Jean. It’s free, from 3 to 5 pm. We do love ourselves some Kweli. But we have questions:
Why is the time geared towards high school kids, who (mostly) don’t get to vote? Will Masterman students flood the streets with revolutionary zeal and wave their tools in the air? Mos Def gets to go to Broadway and Kweli gets to go to CCP? Does Solange broadcast lowered expectations to CCP students struggling to get a leg up in this cold world? Will Nikki Jean finally have a decent audience in Philly? And why the hell is the only thing going on at Temple’s Rock the Vote! event a free screening of Zohan?
