Sprint To Follow Earthlink And Break Our Wireless Hearts
It looks like WiMax is coming to Philadelphia sooner rather than later in the form of a Comcast-Intel-Time Warner Cable-Google-Bright House Networks-backed Sprint-Clearwire merger (whatnow?), if all goes well with their network in Baltimore. Pardon our doubts, but following the Earthlink collapse, and considering that Comcast has offered rather spotty service itself (Did you have cable internet in Northern Liberties between 2004 and 2007? Remember how it sorta worked, sometimes, and how the repair guy just said it was going to keep happening until they upgraded equipment at some date in the future that he didn’t know? Yeah…), we’re expecting WiMax, when it rolls out here in – let’s be optimistic and say 2011 – to be expensive, spotty, and slow.
