JC Dobbs The New Plan “B” For Coldplay And Deposed Tritone Bands Alike

About a month and a half ago, we told you that legendary South Street haunt/venue JC Dobbs was getting back in this business of rock, and lo and behold, the time is upon us. Last week, the venue played host to none other than Civil War Re-enactors/Biggest Band In The World That Nobody Really Cares About Coldplay (pictured), as they holed up in Dobbs for two nights to break in their new touring drummer. And while we’re on the topic, click here if you want to see what your average Coldplay fan has to say about Santogold (sad that comments on DeLuca reviews now tell you more than actual DeLuca reviews), and here if you want to see Drexel student Jonah Delso describe opening for Coldplay as a near-death experience: “I just felt like the light was going through me.” Whoa dude. But that wasn’t the only last-minute action the new Dobbs saw: On Saturday night, the Sugartown/Surgeon record release party was moved from Tritone to Dobbs after Tritone fell victim to that noted and evil befoul-er of parties, L&I. (Says the Tritone MySpace: “Tritone will be closed for minor repairs. We will re-open on Tuesday, July 29. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.” Could be worse.) What’s next? Find out here.
