Always Sunny To Become The New M*A*S*H?

You know, we’ve done so much coverage lately of just what was going on in town with the shooting of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia that I don’t think we’ve paused for a moment at all to ponder aloud just how deeply funny and rewarding the show is. Now might be that time:

The [FX] network has green-lit an amazing 39 more episodes of sleeper sitcom It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. That’s in addition to the 13 that are already in production now and the 32 that have already aired.

When all is said and done, that means there’ll be at least a whopping 84 episodes of the show: Certainly enough for a TV legacy — especially in an age where the sitcom is dying an ignoble, gory death — and definitely enough to help shape people’s opinions about this city for years to come. But we’re not worried. So long as they keep up with the shouting, the crack-smoking, the neighboring mouth-breathers (McPoyles!) and the drinking, our rep is safe, Philly. This is our show, and this is our city.

  1. Philly Chit Chat Says:

The TV Gods used to require a show to have 100 episodes before being considered for re-runs, but now with DVD probably not a criteria.
