This Evening: Ca Plane Pour Moi

>>> K Records artist Jeremy Jay (pictured) is this weird amalgam: Glam, twee, synth-pop, post-punk, New Sincerity, singer/songwriter, and it just kinda goes on from there. And he’s really pretty great. From this little sliver of Los Angeles nightlife/musicscene that is actually both unspeakably hip and artistically pretty on-point (and thus never acknowledged in the company of others), Jay is part Brian Eno, part Adam Green. It’s an awkward combo, sure, but we’re digging it. (Confidentially, there’s something so Plastic Bertrand about the dude I can’t help but get into this.) He plays for free at Port Richmond’s Green Rock Tavern; set time unavail as of this time, but just use it as an excuse to find out if they also have crabs in yet this week. If not, you can do lot worse than those pierogies.
>>> Plus, an embarassment of riches: Jay Reatard/Dark Horse & The Carousels/The Tough Shits at Johnny Brenda’s, all acting like a living compilation album you must, must scope. Enjoy.
