Though we weren’t surprised that the C3 Vineland Music Festival fell through, part of us still dreamed about that first moment when headliners Morrissey and a reunited My Bloody Valentine wondered why the hell they were in Vineland, and what is this Wawa people speak of. Anyway, looks like Philadelphia will get another big ticket festival: The Disney Music Block Party Tour. From August 1st to 3rd, Disney Superstar Raven~Symoné (is ~ really a middle name?) and groups Dan Zanes & Friends, Imagination Movers, Choo Choo Soul, and Ralph’s World will be laying down kid-friendly jams at Sweetbriar Park. Big name acts like Barenaked Ladies and They Might Be Giants are also on the tour, but they won’t be stopping by Sweetbriar. Guess we’ll miss them losing whatever self respect they had left.
For years, children’s music has been populated by group acts wearing obscenely bright clothing and wearing a permanently scarred smile on their face (Hello Wiggles!), but The Inky is billing this as an OzzFest for tots, thereby giving this post the oddest assortment of boldface we’ve seen in months. We’re guessing the bros with Motorhead shirts will be replaced with Prius-driving twentysomething fathers, Apple Juice in exchange for Jägermeister, and no flashing girls. Only Teletubbies.
