This Weekend: Happy To Be Stuck With You

Thursday, July 3rd:
>>> For everyone else, it’s a cute news item that we in the media have used all week like a Fleshlight at summer camp. But for Ben Franklin and Betsy Ross, it’s LOVE.
>>> Why there are not more 4OJ insane jumpoffs tonight? Is it not the most American thing to frontload this weekend so Saturday and Sunday bring a hazy BBQ vibe with mucho Tom Petty? This is worrisome. Count this pick as the stock make-yr-own-fun pick. Just do it.
>>> A weekend of this intensity requires some planning. Start it off with The Smoking Popes reunion show at Johnny Brendas.
>>> Head over to the Medusa Lounge, with DJ Honkytron and Diamond Girl spinning some patriotic club beats. Perhaps they are not patriotic. And perhaps you aren’t either. That’s alright, too.

Friday, July 4th:
>>> You are brave. You are strong. And you, my friend, are going to grab life by the horns and go to Sex Dwarf’s all-Brit dance party at Fluid. It’s only right and natural.
>>> But the 4AM party, monthly on First Fridays at Barbary is no slouch, either. Dig on blog rockers Matt & Kim, The Death Set, Sgt. Sass, and the rest of the 4AM posse.
>>> We miss Rick D. So do you you. Celebrate his life, his glorious rock and roll life, and the what he left behind at Tritone and Bob & Barbara’s with Flux Capacitor, Purple Generals, Crackula, Wes Mattheu and the New Way Down, The Spades, The Minks, Jukebox Zeroes, Jeeters, Company Corvette, and Beretta 76. God bless you, Good Sir. God bless.
>>> If you are stuck with the family during the day, head over to Penn’s Landing and eat as much ice cream as you want for $5. Don’t wear white.
>>> Dj Deejay presents MadonnaMichaelPrince at Moshulu starting at 10pm. Methinks the boat won’t be big enough for the three of them.
>>> Punk rock cover band/Dan Gross funny picture vehicle Renegade says farewell at Johnny Brendas, and YMD says Hello.
>>> John Legend on the Ben Franklin Parkway. We think Boyz II Men is playing at somepoint too. Did you know they are from Philly!!!

Saturday, July 5th:
>>> Disco Recovery will help the ailing at The Institute.
>>> Sharpnack Fest in Mt. Airy, 5pm. Bands, beer, and open fields.
>>> None More Black come out of retirement to play the Mill Creek Tavern. People act all sorts of strange on the 4th.

Sunday, July 6th:
>>> Rest. You’ve earned it, and the forefathers demand it.

All of your asses should be in town for the most important day of the year. The city where it all started.

The day we celebrate is that of the ratification of the most important document in western civilization. On that day we demanded that we would no longer stand for the domination of the British forces.

Enjoy and remember those fifty six signers this weekend.

    Preachy, I know.
    Necessary…of course.
