We’ve been reporting on the exploits of gay rap troupe V.I.P. since Philebrity’s earliest days — they DJ’ed our launch party! OMG, memories! — and even though they’ve since scattered themselves to the hipster wind (NYC, LA, rehab, we hear, etc.), we still try to keep a bead on them. For it is true, we are all tribesmen. We are, I say with zero hesitation, brothers. Or sisters. We’re siblings. So we’ve been holding off on posting about Jonny Makeup’s Tell All blog on the Misshapes website, in part because it’s so mind-blowing we just needed to digest it for a bit, and also in part because we needed to make sure we were not hallucinating this shit. The big news: Jonny seems to have worked his way into the inner circle of American Apparel chief perv Dov Charney, whom Jonny refers to often and very disturbingly as “Daddy.” (And the word Daddy, for some reason, links to Charney’s Wikipedia entry every time Jonny utters it.) This alone is almost too much to bear, but it gets weirder: Just try and process this outfit. Mostly, though, the blog chronicles Jonny’s search for stardom in the Hollywood Hills — think Midnight Cowboy mashed with All About Eve and Party Monster — and on that front, there does seem to be some progress. Jonny’s working on solo tracks with producer Cory Nita (I’m hoping this and the Ali Lohan record come out at the same time so we can do a compare/contrast) and hey! Um, Daddy even gave him his own American Apparel t-shirt. Oh, Daddy. Be careful out there, Jonny. There’s a city back here on the Right Coast that, believe it or not, needs you.
