As It Was In The Beginning, So It Shall Be In The End Times: Phoenixville Taken Over By Annual Blob Fest
Since we’re so partial to blobs here at Philebrity — Food Blob, Art Blob, any ol’ kinda blob, really — so it seems only right and natural that we should tip our hats to the O.G. blob, which is The Blob. Especially given its local roots in Downingtown, PA, and the fact that it’s celebrated every year at Blobfest at the Colonial Theater in Phoenixville. From July 11-13 this year, there’ll be all kinds of Blob-doings: A short film contest, a Steve McQueen look-a-like contest, a screaming contest, a tinfoil hat contest, the Blob Ball, and perhaps best of all, a re-enactment of the famous running-out-of-the-theater scene. Oh yes, and at some point, they actually show The Blob as well which, as it happens, we caught on cable this year, and kitsch aside, really was kind of scary. But truth be told, it also kind of looked delicious.

Downingtown? It was filmed in Phoenixville! (I was born there, so I care about these things.)

The Colonial Theater, which is in Phoenixville, is in the film. I lived there as a child so I care about these things. Maybe other parts were filmed in D-Town?
