Welcome America. Now Get The Hell Out.

After the jump, some humble suggestions — lookin’ pretty bleak, but nonetheless — for those of us lacking a way out of the city this weekend and looking to plan in advance.

Thursday, July 3rd
>>> Don’t like to overload yourself the first night? Witness the marriage of Ben Franklin and Betsy Ross, and fufill your dreams of watching a Founding Father tie the knot.
>>> A weekend of this intensity requires some planning. Start it off with The Smoking Popes reunion show at Johnny Brendas.
>>> Head over to the Medusa Lounge, with DJ Honkytron and Diamond Girl spinning some patriotic club beats.

Friday, July 4th
>>> If you are stuck with the family during the day, head over to Penn’s Landing and eat as much ice cream as you want for $5. Don’t wear white.
>>> Dj Deejay presents MadonnaMichaelPrince at Moshulu starting at 10pm. Methinks the boat won’t be big enough for the three of them.
>>> Renegade says farewell at Johnny Brendas, and YMD says Hello.
>>> John Legend on the Ben Franklin Parkway. We think Boyz II Men is playing at somepoint too. Did you know they are from Philly!

Saturday, July 5th
>>> Disco Recovery will help the ailing at The Institute.
>>> Sharpnack Fest in Mt. Airy, 5pm. Bands, beer, and open fields.
>>> None More Black come out of retirement to play the Mill Creek Tavern. People act all sorts of strange on the 4th.

And don’t forget SEX DWARF on July 4th - we celebrate America’s birthday with a British Invasion of Nonstop New Wave from 9pm-2am at Fluid!

Actually … Boys II Men are playing SATURDAY, JULY 5 - fireworks afterwards - at Penn’s Landing.

    Glaring Omission Alert:

Phillies and Mets four game series all weekend long at the park.

Fireworks, baseball, hot dogs, beer and meatheads fighting - what could be a more appropriate way to celebrate America?

Well, I’ll be at Fiesta on The Parkway for Sunoco Welcome America on the 3rd…then at Johnny Brenda’s with Renegade on the Fourth. I may or may not be wearing a wig.

    Should be a hoot.
