Rumblings: Geekadelph Half-Life

isepta>>> First off, let us all tip our Mountain Dews to City of Philadelphia CIO Terry Phillis, who tendered his resignation earlier today. Phillis will be out by July 31 — an interim director will be appointed by end of week — and goes out on the tremendous high of having had a huge hand rescuing the Wireless Philadelphia project from the jaws of defeat. Good on ya, Terry. On your watch, this City almost unfathomably got a lot smarter.
>>> Speaking of smarter Philadelphians, the good folks at Independents Hall are throwing a party on Thursday night in celebration of two new Philly-born inventions: iSepta, which we wrote about recently, and RipIt, a new DVD ripper jawn for Macs. Tell the truth: The geek scene in Philadelphia right now is sooooo much more rockstar than the rock scene. Lovin’ it. [IndependentsHall]
>>> And since we’re having such a lovefest, we’ve been meaning to point you to Phillypreneurs, a great new blog that finds itself at the center of this whole new/decade-in-the-making movement of Philly people building incredibly tech-savvy businesses. Is it just us, or did IgnitePhilly really just have some kind of Sex-Pistols-At-Manchester-University kind of moment? [PhillyPreneurs]
