Paine’s Park Project: If You Build It, They Will Ollie

Philebrity is proud to be the new media sponsor for Paine’s World, the fundraising event for Paine’s Park Project, to be held this Saturday at the Urban Outfitters HQ at the Naval Yard. For the unfamiliar, Paine’s Park Project is deep into the process of building the city’s first skate-friendly public park, just off the Schuylkill River and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. This Saturday, a whole clutch of Philly artists and DJs — Andrew Jeffrey Wright, Pink Skull, The YMD, Broadzilla and more — will gather, perform and help raise funds for this really great project. (There will also be live skate demos, food and drink, and shuttle transportation from Center City; more info here.) And we urge you to come along and show your support. In this video clip, Steve Miller of Exit Philadelphia talks about the culture of skateboarding in Philly, and the need for a park such as Paine’s.

EXTRA SPECIAL SUPER CRAZY GIVEAWAY BONUS BEATS: Of course — of course — we’d love for you to lay down $22 for the benefit, but we know how it goes. Recession, gas, rent, etc. So as not to leave anybody out, Philebrity has a bunch of guest list spots for Saturday, and we’d love to share ‘em with you. To enter to win, send an email to ihopeiwin[at]philebrity[dot]com with “JOY AND PAINE” in the subject header. Winners will be notified tomorrow afternoon. Good luck!
