If you said “YOUR VEGAN SISTER,” you’re close, but guess again: It’s PETA protesters! The Lettuce Ladies are a hard act to top, but instead of the sexy approach, PETA is trying a new angle: “Scary.” The protesters planned to station themselves outside of KFC on the 1200 block of North Broad this morning to bring awareness to the unfair treatment of chickens being slaughtered. (Wait, we heard that the KFC birds aren’t even actual animals anymore. No?) PETA stated that, “because voltage levels of electric stun tanks in U.S. slaughterhouses are kept at only a fraction of the level needed to render chickens insensible to pain, birds are usually paralyzed, but still conscious, when their throats are cut.” Please tell me someone snapped a cameraphone picture of this.
