Philly Street Urchin Report: Dude In Graf Beatdown Case Demands Apology, New Victim Whose Mom Looks Totally Fierce In Roc-A-Wear Emerges
David Vernitsky is gettin’ sassy! And rightfully so: The erstwhile graffiti artist who had his jaw needlessly broken by two cops now under investigation is getting mad press, and that’s not all. He’s now demanding an apology. (Although you do have to wonder just what kind of apology this would be, no? “We’re sorry we beat you up. It’s not us, it’s the decades-old knucklehead culture that only some of us manage to escape from.”) But wait! Here comes the cavalry: Charges have emerged in another case against the same pair of cops, Officers Sheldon Fitzgerald and Howard Hill III, who are alleged to have beaten 16-year-old Joshua Pagan to a pulp last June; after he gave chase to cops after being stopped for a curfew violation, Pagan suffered “a swollen-shut, plum-colored black eye after Hill allegedly punched him in the face repeatedly, according to the teen and his mom, Madeline Pagan.” (Pictured here looking fiiiieeeeeerrrrrrce.) Nevertheless, Pagan himself says he’s no angel:
The teen says he has been arrested so many times, he has lost count. In one month alone, the North Philly teen says, he was locked up at least three times.
In each case – drug possession, aggravated assault, car theft, probation violations – the police procedure was fairly standard: Hands behind your back, cuffs, a trip to the police station.
This time, however, it wasn’t like that, and now, the pair of cops have another Internal Affairs investigtion on their hands to add to the Vernitsky case.
