Rumblings: The Creative Class Wars

>>> Say hello to the Examiner - Philly Edition, and uh, more to the point, do you wanna run this thing? The chain of online newspapers — the job ad says that they’re not, but that’s pretty much what it is — has expanded to 59 markets, and Philly’s one of them. Not sure what this puppy can really do except, perhaps, light a fire under Philly.com’s ass — oh, and give PhillyMag’s Daily Examiner blog even more trouble than it already has. >>> The Innovation Philadelphia awards have been handed out, and congrats to the winners:

Brown Partners, a minority-owned and operated communications and advertising firm founded and owned by David Brown. The company received $50,000. — DreamIt Ventures, a three-month business boot camp for start-up companies in the Philadelphia area founded by David Bookspan, Michael Levinson and Steve Welch. The company received $100,000. [EarthTimes]

>>> And a heads up: We mentioned this before, but it bears repeating — City Paper is hosting this year’s Association Of Alternative Newsweeklies’ Convention, and Philebrity will be on the scene covering it, collecting smacktalk and hoping like hell this guy loses even more employees during it (and we have reason to believe he will), thereby becoming a national embarassment and not just a local one. It’s gonna be GREAT. [AAN]
