We’re pretty stoked about this one: All last summer, we shared many, many “moments” at Cavanaugh’s Riverdeck. It’s a rarity in the city: An outdoor bar, right on the river, and, though it’s probably prickish to say so, an often hilarious interface with NorthEast Philly culture, right here in town. (And yes, we know about the awful fate of DJ Cuervo, but for us, this illustrates a key point of the Cav’s experience — knowing when to leave.) At any rate, Philadelphyinz — quickly becoming one of Philly’s most ambitious and prolific DJ teams — are starting up “The Block Party” next Wednesday, and Wednesdays throughout the summer thereafter. Preliminary guest schedule goes like this:

5/28: Sammy Bananas (Fools Gold / Certified Bananas)
Half of the duo Certified Bananas, recently been cranking out incredible reworks of 90’s urban party staples for the Fool’s Gold label. There is a 95% chance yr gonna hear “Freak Like Me” by Adina Howard. Just sayin, it’s like that.
6/4: Cosmo Baker (The Rub)
A legend in Philly for The Remedy, a legend in New York for The Rub. Totally worth your Thursday morning hangover.
6/11: Mike Tee (Bleached Black)
Our boy Mike boasts some of the deepest disco crates in Philly.
