Judge To Lower Merion Barnes Foundation Holdouts: The Man Is DEAD, People. Get The Hell Out Of My Courtroom.
A long-shot effort by Montgomery County and a citizens group to keep a $6 billion art collection from moving to Philadelphia failed after the judge in the case ruled the parties lack standing to reopen his prior decision in the case.
Montgomery Common Pleas Court Judge Stanley R. Ott ruled today in a memorandum opinion that Pennsylvania case law prohibits him from granting standing to both Montgomery County and a group of art students, alumni and neighbor petitioners of the Barnes Foundation, which includes members of the Friends of the Barnes Foundation, a citizens group which has fought to keep the Barnes Foundation’s art collection in Lower Merion Township.
“Lack standing.” Has a nice ring to it, no? Like: Why didn’t we approve your comment? Because YOU LACK STANDING. Also, unrelated, we are crushing hard on the judge (pictured).
