In the screengrab at right — apparently philly.com decided that only some videos were worth allowing embed codes for — you’ll see a funny thing. Yes, that is Owen Wilson. But more importantly, next to him, most likely playing the role of “erudite/articulate black editor” (God, even the most basic roles in this movie are utter hackneyed shite), is actor Clarke Peters. Who some of you might know from The Wire. Take a walk with me here, it’s a slow news day. Peters (who by the way was so, so awesome on that show as Lester Freamon), has apparently been hanging around and even shooting in Bill Marimow’s office all day today. Marimow, of course, was famously not psyched about The Wire. And now? To have LESTER FUCKING FREAMON, basically playing him in some bullshit movie about Owen Wilson’s Bad Dog? Oooh, it’s too sweet. The Philadelphia Inquier: Best to get humilated by everyday ironies every day. This movie might not wind up being such a piece of shit after all.
