Captain Freeshit: Win Tix To The Making Time 8th Anniversary With Cut Copy/Black Kids/Mobius Band
If you thought the 10-Year Sorted! video was a trip down memory lane, just wait two more years until we get to do the Making Time one. This Friday, of course, Making Time turns 8 years old, and we can’t stress this enough: It takes balls of steel and an iron constitution and tremendous luck/genius to keep a regular party going for even one year, much less eight. So kudos to Dave P and the whole gang for keeping it up. On Friday at Pure, all and sundry will celebrate with DJs Dave, the Sorted! lads, Broadzilla, Rock Tits, Pink Skull, Adam Sparkles and a truly impressive 3-band bill: Black Kids, Mobius Band and, most notably, Australia’s Cut Copy, whom we’ve been loving in secret ever since we first heard them on that Black Panty Pool Party mixtape back in ‘04. (If anybody you know has this mixtape, get it now; it was originally upped by this guy, but it’s long gone now.) Fast forward to now and Cut Copy are seriously on the verge of becoming the New Order of our time, making brilliant, smart pop records and of course, their own amazing mixtapes from time to time. (Also check out their Fabric mixtape.) Translation: We don’t know if we’ve ever been this psyched to see a band at Making Time. And yes, we have tickets. To enter to win, send an email to ihopeiwin[at]philebrity[dot]com with “8 LONG YEARS OF GETTING RAD” in the subject header. We’ll pick a winner at noon tomorrow and seriously, how psyched are you?
