Readers Cameraphone: Is The Bolt Bus Immune To The Philadelphia Parking Authority?

I walk down 30th St. as part of my daily commute and have noticed that Bolt Bus has set up shop in a No Stopping Zone there. Is the PPA turning a blind eye? Don’t you need a permit for this kind of thing?
You’re not going to believe this but, for once, we may actually have an answer. It would appear that the Bolt Bus must in fact have some kind of permit for hanging out on 30th Street — either that, or they’re going all kinds of renegade Fung Wah on this bitch. When you go to the Bolt Bus website, in fact the only departing option for Philly is “30th St. between Market & Chestnut” — the location of your photo. So, while we doubt PPA is turning a blind eye, they probably are counting coin from whatever kind of permit the Bolt Bus most likely had to buy. Don’t hate the player, though: Hate the Parking Authority. The more you know!

I’ve seen more than one cut-rate bus service operating on that block (some even have had signage), so I’m guessing the city must allow it. Close proximity to 30th Street station and all. With most of the mail distribution from the 30th Street Post Office (loading docks visible across the street) now moved to Southwest, I believe, there’s a nice, wide street going begging.
