Music Rumblings: I’ve Got Magic In My Bones…Somewhere
>>>Adult Swim’s funniest non-animated duo Tim & Eric, have just released their inaugural musical offering Awesome Record, Great Songs! Volume One. Featuring appearances by the Shins, Built to Spill, and even Aimme Mann, this 43 track (that’s not a typo) monstrosity includes such gems as “Wipe my Butt,” “I Sit Down to Pee,” and “My Sister’s Cute.” Sounds like that perfect Mother’s Day gift you’ve been looking for! [Pitchfork]
>>>Also, Kurt Vile of War on Drugs goes it alone, this time in earnest, with Constant Hitmaker (Gulcher Records). There you go kids, just because you’re from the suburbs, and drive a forklift, doesn’t mean you can’t put out a record. According to Vile’s myspace it sounds like, “when u wake from a long and glorious slumber, then u realize u don’t have to go to work, then u fall back into long and glorious slumber.” Man, those are the best days. >>>This writer doesn’t normally pay attention to much that happens in West Philly, but today’s headline is taken from the first track of the self-titled record from Tickley Feather. Partly because it’s stuck in my head thanks to it’s repetition, but also for it’s whimsical, childlike optimism. The idea that if I try hard enough to find it, good things might happen. Sounds like TF’s mastermind Annie Sachs may have already found hers. [Pitchfork]
