Question: Will Welcome America suck not as hard now that we’ve got a Mayor who knows what’s up? For Center City residents stuck in Philly over the generalized 4th of July time period — Welcome America is ten days long — it’s a very real question, as the tourism-generating program has often offered the worst of Philadelphia to the worst of tourists: Straight fannypackin’, y’all. Well, guess what: Early indications would indicate that it may not be so bad this year:
· John Legend (pictured) will headline on the Parkway on the 4th. LOVE him. So handsome and not nearly as boring as Jill Scott.
· Boys II Men will rock the Frank the next day. Outfits!
· Taste of Philadelphia will be at Penn’s Landing on the 5th and 6th. Fun!
And, as of this writing, the Welcome America website is down! Could it be that the City has wrestled this beast back from the evil-doing hands of Sunoco? We can only hope, lil’ Philly, we can only hope.
