BREAKING: BikeShareBombThreat
Today at 11:30am there was a bomb threat at the Bicycle Coalition Office at 100 South Broad Street, forcing everyone to evacuate. Anti-bike forces (aka cab drivers) getting violent? Is everyone going MAD??? Gosh, I wonder if this has anything to do with the Philadelphia City Council reviewing the Philly Bike Share program tomorrow at the scheduled hearing.
Speaking of that hearing, an outline of the business plan was released yesterday stating that users would pay some sort of fee (daily, weekly, annually) and bikes would be checked out with a smart card. There would be stations over the city, and riders could one-way to any of the stations. Alex Doty, Executive Director of the Bicycle Coalition hopes to being in more than 1,000 bikes to start with. Nice. This would help make sure that bikes are stationed at all the stations and riders wouldn’t be stranded in one location.

My guess is we’re talking about some crust punky (can crust punks hold jobs as long as they’re ‘extreme’) bike couriers wanting to make a statement: the streets only belong to the hard core.
Or would the Bike Share threaten office? Might have got Farnese elected, y’know….
