South Philly Representin’: Zoe Strauss Stumps For Christian DiCicco

I’m voting for Christian based on the looming threat of a casino coming to Delaware and Reed… A casino being built at Delaware and Reed is possibly one of the stupidest fucking things I’ve ever heard of. Christian is strenuously opposed to a casino in the proposed location. South Philly’s current rep, Bill Keller, voted for the original legislation that approved slots gambling in Pennsylvania, with 2 slots parlors slated for Philadelphia. Then, he voted for the amended version of SB 862, a bill that aimed at lining up casinos on Pennsylvania’s riverfronts. The amended version of the legislation was opposed by almost all Philadelphia legislators because it stripped the city of its power to determine the zoning for the casinos and handed it over to the state. And now we’re looking at an uphill battle to keep Foxwoods out of our neighborhood.
For real, a casino that would come to Reed St. would destroy Pennsport.
Zoe Strauss’ “I-95″ show — which will take place under the I-95 highway in South Philadelphia — will be on Sunday, May 4.

I have never been to Glam, but if they opened a Glam II down at Foxwoods, Glam South, I might change my tune about the casino. Dudes, what was I thinking? Ladies Night at Glam South down Foxwoods! And maybe a resurgence of “Ladies for the 80’s” night down Foxwoods. I’ll totally do a 180 about the casinos if they can provide a much needed service for South Philadelphia, a more convenient Glam.
