Urban Outfitters Opens New Garden Store, Grows A Beard, Starts Getting Wayyyy Into Joni Mitchell And Tofu Scramble

After about a year of speculation and rumors, Terrain — the new garden store concept that Urban Outfitters has been tinkering with in an effort to produce a Smith & Hawken for millenials — opened at Styer’s Orchard in Concordville, PA, over the weekend. News to you? Here’s the idea:

“The traditional atmosphere, the horticultural and land design expertise, and the wide range of plants in the region are enhanced by a new sense of style from Terrain – the people who brought you the design innovation of the Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie and Free People stores… Drawing on the work of contemporary designers and traditional style from around the world, Terrain at Styer’s integrates home and garden into a personal living space enhanced by a connection to nature, and respect for our environment and our community.”

We’re giving it about 6 months until a controversy over “Jesus Is My Homeboy” faux-cannabis seeds.

This completes the Urban Starbuckification of the entire known universe. Thanks.

Styer’s Nursery was a perfect, low key, no atty-tude place to just, you know, buy plants. I am completely depressed.

Pft. I’m a Redbud man. All native plants, and they supply Bartram’s Garden.

I think Terrain is a wonderful extension of the brand. Plus, in partnering with Styer’s, they preserve the original business and enhance the overall experience for the customer. I was there this weekend and wanted to move in!
