Did Chelsea Clinton Just Make Us Realize How Utterly Lame The Gay Bar Scene Is Here?

Homos, c’mon, you know it’s true. Half of you roll your eyes any time you hear any of the following words alone or in combination: Tavern on Camac, Bump, Woody’s and Sisters. Is this the best we can do? And isn’t there something that just resonates through everyone’s bones — gay or straight — as just being so, so sad that poor Chelsea Clinton had to spend a solid weekend night making this sad straight girls’ no-dick crawl with Ed Rendell, a bear who’s not even gay? (On the upshot, she did get her ass grabbed.) A crueler person would say that in these difficult times, the Clintons can’t even get fag-hagging right. And you know what? I am that crueler person. And verily I say unto thee: Philadelphia, stop taking celebrities and politicos to 1990s Theme Park Amusement Tours Of The Gay Bars That Time Froze.

I am always amazed at how negative and self-hating some people in this city are. it’s true the gay bar scene is lacking in some areas, but at least we’re not experiencing a string of closings like the NYC and DC gays.
if you hate the gay scene so much here, change it!

uh, so the breeders from up north don’t enjoy center city gay culture. shocking.

what do the folks at Philebrity know about the gay scene in Philly?

This is such clear bias. Obviously Philebrity is pro Obama. That is fine but if you have to try this hard to find criticism of Hillary- give me a break.

At least her campaign is doing outreach to the LGBT community. The Obama approach of plastering advertising in gay periodicals doesn’t fly. Last month the Liberty City Democrats invited representation from both the Clinton and the Obama campaign to appear at an event. The Clinton campaign had Chelsea be their spokesperson. Obama had Melissa Etheridge phone in. Geez, really come on.

You don’t have to be for or against Hillary to know that the gay bars in this town are stuck in a time-warp and generally suck.

  5. rjb Says:

    Agreed

But I believe that it is an important acknowledgment of the LGBT community.

Even if the places visited are lame there aren’t many other places where the Clinton campaign could have encountered LGBT people at that volume.

    Oh well.
