Musical Rumblings: Transit The Piss From Your War On Albatross

>>> An Albatross (pictured here), a long-running psych-grind band from Wilkes-Barre that we’ll just pretend are from here, have signed to Eyeball Records, the label that will one day have to answer to the Good Taste Gods for giving us such bands as Thursday and My Chemical Romance. Anyway, for a tantalizing taste of An Albatross’ upcoming album, check out the tune “…And Now Emerges The Silver Pilgrim” on their eye-popping Myspace page. [Myspace]
>>> Our own (again, kinda sorta) Pissed Jeans and a gazillion other bands will play Sub Pop‘s 20th anniversary bash in — where else? — Seattle this summer. Yes, old-timers, even Seaweed! [Billboard]
>>> The fledgling Blue Bell label Transit of Venus, home to Shimmers and our pals The Trolleyvox, will release the debut album by Julie Ocean, a Washington D.C. indie-pop supergroup featuring dudes from Velocity Girl, Tree Fort Angst, and other bands you faintly remember from spinART‘s One Last Kiss… comp. [Transit of Venus]
>>> And finally, The War On DrugsWagonwheel Blues got its requisite moment of advance attention on Forkcast, complete with an mp3 of “Taking The Farm.” Cheers! [Pitchfork]

Whoa An Albatross is still around? Talk about a blast from the past. I remember when those dudes were rocking out as a pop punk band until they discovered the insanity that was the Locust circa 1998.
