Academy Of Natural Sciences Plugs In, Turns On And, Uh, Electrocutes Mutant Walking Fish

The Northern Snakehead fish, or ‘walking fish’, is a native of China that has been banned since it was imported to the United States because of it’s predator behavior. These fish are extremely aggressive, and even worse, a serious threat to area fish of all kinds. The Northern Snakehead fish has been discovered in local ponds and lakes, which is not good news. But.. did we mention they can walk? You won’t see them strolling along the riverbank, but instead slithering and springing. Creepy, right? They can go days without water, so once they finish eating fish from one pond they can saunter over to another pond. Experts fear that these fish will make it to the Delaware River and hit up other waterways, making this a big deal. To make matters worse, these fish are ugly, really really ugly.
Philadelphia’s Academy of Natural Science is making an effort to stop this demon fish before it’s too late. They have been conducting fish surveys in lakes and ponds of FDR Park, using electric shock to temporarily paralyze the fish for a couple minutes, count the different types of fish and then release them. Which has to be the coolest thing to see a pond full of fish be paralyzed and then snap back to life. Where can I find myself a fish-pond-shocker? So far an increasing amount of snakeheads have been discovered, and the scientists have yet to finish the shocking.
