Neighbourhood Watch: Savages In The Hinterlands Edition
UPPER DARBY: Yet another SEPTA attack. (Nice to see you’re really on the case, Guardian Angels.) This time, woman carrying a seventh-month old was assaulted by two men after she exited the trolley. One of the suspects took a swing at the woman, but instead struck the child who was then taken to an area hospital. Both of the suspects were taken into custody. [CBS3]
WEST CHESTER: West Chester University has released plans to knock down five of the existing dorms and build six new dorms. The new rooms should have semi-private bathrooms and there will be CARPETING. Whoo! Even better is that the new dorms are aiming to be “green” by using a geothermal heating system. Nice. The project will not be completed until 2013, but you know what they say: “Green things come to those who wait.” Until then, WCU, you’re gonna have to make those carpets green the old fashioned way. Ahem. [KYW]
UNIVERSITY CITY: As you know, The Colbert Report is coming to Philadelphia. As you don’t know, not all hope is lost if you still want get tickets to sit in the front row and watch Colbert love himself like it’s his job, oh wait, that is his job. Tickets to the taping are not guaranteed so you get to drag yourself to the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts at 10.AM, when UPenn students have just started snorting coke, to sign up for standby tickets and then return later to see if they might be let in. NORTHEAST: There have been an alarming amount of break-ins in the past couple weeks that are leaving residents with no choice but to whip out their firearms and just wait for you to break in so they can shoot you! Granted Philly is no stranger to shootings, but keep in mind that this is Pennsylvania, not Texas, and we actually have laws about shooting other people. [PhillyBlog]
