OK, We Lied: Presenting TRAILERFEST! A Running Guide To Standout Films At The Philadelphia Film Festival.

After the jump, our five picks for the opening weekend. And stay with us all next week for daily Trailerfest picks!
In A Dream
Profiling the struggles of legendary Philly muralist Isaiah Zagar, In A Dream recently nabbed the Emerging Visions Audience Award from the SXSW Film Festival.
Playing Friday, April 4 « 7:00 PM at International House; Saturday, April 5 « 3:00 PM at Ritz East Theater 2; Saturday, April 5 « 5:00 PM at Black Box at the Prince.
The Red Elvis
The Red Elvis tells the strange story of Dean Reed, the Marxist pop star who bailed on America to become the biggest pop star behind Iron Curtain.
Playing Friday, April 4 « 7:15 PM at The Bridge: Cinema DeLux and Monday, April 7 « 7:00 PM at Ritz East Theater 1.
Mirageman
Oh, hell yes: Mirageman is about some guy in Chile who becomes a crime-fighting superhero in order to inspire his greif-stricken bro.
Beloved (aka: Saawariya)
Beloved looks absolutely gorgeous — Wong Kor-Wai-ish, even. It’s a Bollywood retelling of Dostoyevsky’s White Nights, “the story of an idealistic young wayfarer who becomes entranced by the smoldering beauty of a young woman waiting for her true love’s return.” Which makes it sound like traditional romantic B-wood corn, but that’s not why you’re there. You’re there for the deep, lush cinematography. Total eye candy.
Playing Saturday, April 5 « 12:00 PM at Prince Music Theater; Wednesday, April 9 « 7:00 PM at The Bridge: Cinema DeLux
Heavy Metal in Baghdad
Totally nuts. Heavy Metal in Baghdad is the full-length theatrical release of vbs.tv’s popular series of the same name. Very recommended.
Playing Sunday, April 6 « 4:45 PM at Ritz East Theater 2; Thursday, April 10 « 7:15 PM at International House.
